The Latest and Greatest

So…..well…. I cant say that I have been very exciting over the last couple of weeks but I can say that I am slowly healing up. I can lie down to sleep again and even managed to get back in the same bed as my wife again. I probably don’t need so many pain killers but have been enjoying taking heaps of them just in case! And I have still been working and drinking as you don’t want to change to much too soon incase you upset the balance of nature.

I have been pottering around the house being all normal an stuff and adding a little colour with some beautiful flowers. I have also built a pretty rad bird feeder although it looks like I am already in trouble for it and will have to take it down.

I have also been a super computer geek, trying to get my shit together for the 2015 base jumping season. For those of you out there that want to be an extreme sports athlete remember this… it is 50% getting out there and doing it and 50% bullshit computer geek work to try to stay financial and not do dishes for a living!

The weather is warming up here and the snow is melting fast. I did manage to get back out doors though and start walking again! Its been beautiful. On my second day I went snowshoeing and did a 6 hour hike to the Lobhorn and back which was at elevation 2566m  as you can see by the photos, this place is beautiful!!!

I am excited to get fit and active again but I just need to convince my body to keep up with my lifestyle!!

I also went to the Swiss Institute of Sport this week to do some with them on nutrition to see if it helps with wingsuiting. Whilst the Australian Institute of sport wouldn’t touch me with a ten foot pole because I wasn’t a boring cricketer or swimmer, the Swiss took me in with open arms and I am excited to see the outcome of everything, thanks guys!!!!!

Alcohol and healthiness...
I wish these two subjects could live in happiness but they just cant, well not for me anyway. I want both of them though and it brings a tear to my eye that I would have to choose but I will. I have evolved so much that my moderation button has been covered up and there no longer is one. It is no secret that I love to party but I am not 20 anymore and almost everyday my body is telling me this. So I have to make some tough decisions that I really don’t want to make. I need to stop drinking heavily and I need to start getting healthy. But it’s near impossible with the lifestyle I live and the toxic friends that I have all over the planet. And frankly I don’t want to give up the fun times.
So what to do? Well, at this stage I am still going to say fuck it and I am going to party for another couple of months and then I will re-evaluate the situation again. Perfect!!! I agree said me!!
And that was that .
I have also just got permission from the local tourist office and government to put some ladders into a couple of exit points that have dodgy approaches but are safe jumps so that will be happening as soon as the snow melts. It will be nice to give back a little bit to the jumpers and help make the valley safer and keep it open to everybody!!

Well unfortunately, that’s it! Pretty bloody boring actually. It wont be too boring for much long there. There is only 2 more weeks of work and then it’s game on again. I have so many things in the pipeline so fingers crossed that even 25% of them happen.

Until next time my wanna be feathered friends…..

Just Another Blog: Episode 1

So I had planned on calling my blog “The Action Man Diaries” but it’s a bit hard to do that when I have been laid up in bed for the last two weeks with suspected cracked ribs from playing UFC, super drunk with a 300 pound bouncer at Wengen’s only night club, “The Blue Monkey”

He is a bouncer for a reason and whilst it was all in good fun, he managed to make me tap out about 5 times and squashed me in the process. I finally went to the doctor today and nothing is broken but there is some cartilage damage, which is painful as fuck and I am out for another 3-4 weeks apparently unless I can muscle the courage to harden the f@ck up!
1st World Problem of the Week!

This week’s first world problem is brought to you by Brent Balalas:

The brother in law of a friend of mine recently uttered the following words:

"I haven't driven my Ferrari at all this year, and my other Range Rover is in the shop, so I've had to drive the old Range Rover for a while."

Submit YOUR First World Problems Here!

But before all this nonsense I was having a ball here in the heart of the Swiss Alps with good crew, toys and snow! It was a late start to the season here with some epic crashes on the snowboard due to lots of hidden rocks, or ‘land mines’ as I like to call them. I scored a 2 foot scar in my snowboard which I like to call ‘The Comet’ and spent a couple of days in bed after that crash. But the snow finally came and we have had some epic powder days with great crew as my awesome Aussie mates came to play. Wildman, Jez, Gibbsy, Sas & Gaz. The one thing we have in common is that we all still think we are 20 years old and we forget that our skills and our confidence don’t always line up, which makes for a lot of funny crashes and good laughs! I even attempted my first front loop on a snowboard. I just need to get the second half of the trick right and it will be awesome, either that or strap another snowboard to my head so I can ride out of it!

We have been doing quite a lot of speed riding while the lads were here too with some good flying and yet again, some good crashes. Stay tuned for the videos to come!

It’s that time of the year where I have to work a normal job behind the bar to help pay for the summers of fun but I think I drink the same amount no matter which side of the bar I am on.
My liver definitely needs a rest but it hasn’t stopped me from some epic party nights with some crazy stories, some of which I can’t tell you for about another 30 years. But let’s just say, dreams keep coming true if you wish for them hard enough!

I also started renovating our place starting with an Ikea kitchen. What a cluster fuck that turned out to be. There was shit everywhere for about 5 days but it finally came together and now I can cook epic meals for all my frangs from around the village! I’m even thinking of doing a stupid cooking web series for a laugh but we will see.

I got to spend a few days over in Zermatt thanks to Jez. The plan was to go heli boarding but the snow was super shit for it so we just hired a guide and headed into the back country and played around the mighty Matterhorn which was super cool , thanks Jez!!

After 15 years I finally got to see my favorite hard core band ‘Raised Fist’ with some mates of mine and it was nothing short of wild! God Dam I wish I could sing like that mofo!

We also scored tickets to Burning Man so bring that on!! 200 base jumpers in a camp together with 60,000 other units around. It will be nothing short of mindblowing!!

But the highlight of the winter so far was to live out a childhood dream of doing the Olympic bobsled run in St Moritz. My wife Jenny paired up with Annette and me and Wildman paired up together. This thing was full on! At over 120kms we hurtled down the track pulling 3-4 G’s around the turns. It was a very intense 1 minute and hats off to the guys that do it because it is the real deal. Special congratulations to Lonnie Bissonnette for coming 3rd in the first ever Para World Bobsled Championships. He is an inspiration. Check out his page https://www.facebook.com/TheLonnieBissonnette

That’s enough crap from me for now but read on, there'll be plenty more....
Adios amigos!

Base Jumping Tip of the Day

Always check to see that you have connected your bridle to your parachute and your pilot chute to your bridle!

Sounds stupid but it happens! Its is very difficult to open a parachute without a pilot chute but if you do find your self in this situation then PANIC!!!!!!

Oh yeah, and never give up…..EVER!

A few epic photos to finish this nonsense...
